Everleigh is 8 Months

A long over due post, but the month of May was an emotional month for us. Our Mila passed away exactly one year ago on May 6th.  We hear people say it gets easier with time, while that is true, it doesn't make it any less painful to not have our daughter here with us.  Death seems to cause this emptiness in your heart that just never seems to get filled. However, Everleigh is our reminder to keep running this race. She is our greatest gift. In the last 8 months she has taught us more about life than what we have learned ourselves in the last 30 plus years. One of the biggest one is that every life is precious.

Everleigh is so brave! We know she doesn't have it easy like most children her age. She is always in and out of doctor's appointments and going to multiple therapy weekly just so she can thrive in life. She never gives up though. Every day she practices lifting her head up and will do this throughout the day which shows to me that she has great determination.

The most special and worthy thing that we have gained through her life is the fruit of the spirit that Jesus talks about in the bible the book of Galatians 5:22-23, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." The best way to bear the fruit of the spirit is when we are nearest to Jesus and it is often the pain and disappointments of this life that draw us closest to Him.
